Definitions
Gingivitis is an inflammation of the gums (gingiva).
Gingivitis is a disease that is common and arise anytime after teething.
Causes of pain gingivitis
Gingivitis is almost always caused by rubbing and flosing
(cleaning teeth using dental floss) that is not true, so that there remains
plaque along the gum line. Plaque is a layer consisting mainly of bacteria.
Plaque is often attached to the wrong patch or around the teeth adjacent to the
dentures are rarely cleaned.
If plaque stays on the teeth for more than 72 hours, it will
harden and form tartar (kalkulusflosing). Plaque is the main cause of
gingivitis.
Other factors that would further aggravate the inflammation
is:
- Pregnancy
- Puberty
- Birth control pills.
Certain medications can cause excessive gum growth so
difficult to clean plaque and gingivitis there.
These drugs are:
- Phenytoin (anti-seizure medications)
- Cyclosporine (taken by patients who undergo organ
transplantation).
- Calcium channel blockers (eg, nifedipine, a drug to
control blood pressure and heart rhythm abnormalities).
- Birth control pills or injections.
